Leara, a loyal, devoted, faithful, loving daughter, sister, aunt, and trustworthy friend was born in Toomsboro, Georgia on December 28, 1942 as the fourth of eleven children to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom (Ruby) Denson. As a child, she grew up with her parents and siblings, loving and learning from living life on the farm. Developing a love of the Lord which was fostered by her parents, Leara became a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church.
Leara was educated in the public school system in Wilkinson County. She completed her education and graduated from Calhoun Consolidated High School as a member of the Class of 1961. Driven by a desire to be successful in life and help others, Leara enlisted in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge after 8 years of active duty and completed her final service in reserve duty at Fort McPhearson in Atlanta, Georgia.
Leara’s life was the epitome of what it meant to be a servant to others. Living by her father’s instructions and words of wisdom, she always strove to “do what was right and good.” Leara was known for her observant, quiet, gentle personality and exemplified strength, determination and caring for the needs of others. With her servant’s heart, she was always willing to go the extra mile to support her family, friends, as well as those who she knew were in need. Having no children of her own, Leara was a mother figure to many.
With humility and grace, Leara answered the Master’s call on the evening of September 23, 2021. In addition to her parents, she joins two brothers, Marion and Willie and two sisters, Louise and Jo Ann in God’s everlasting care.
She leaves to miss, love, and cherish her legacy and precious memories one brother and five sisters: Tommie Lee Denson, Dorothy (Lonnie) English, Rosa Handy, Lucille Denson, Eloise Walker, Christine Denson and two sister-in laws: Katherine Denson and Louise Denson. Her goddaughter, Tiffany English Adams as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends will forever hold dear and remember her love, support and blessings. Friends are being received at the family residence. The family ask for your safety that CO-VID 19 protocol be adhered to. Please wear facial covering at all times.
