Remembering Nona

A Home-Going Celebration of Life for Ms. Nona Jane Burney will be held Saturday, November 07, 2026 at 2:00 O’clock P. M. in the God's Divine Vision Ministry, 600 Telfair Street Dublin, Interment will follow at Royal Springs Church Cemetery (also referred to as Williams Chapel Mission Cemetery). Nona was born in Dublin, GA on January 28, 1942, to the late Mr. Oscar Daniel Sr. and Mrs. Tommie Lee Daniel. She was called home to the Lord on October 30, 2026. While living in Detroit, Michigan, she dedicated herself to rearing her three daughters, nurturing them with unconditional love, wisdom, and the strong Christian values that defined her life. She was a woman of unwavering faith whose trust in the Lord sustained her throughout life's journey. Grounded in Christian values, she faced every challenge with remarkable strength, steadfast determination, and grace. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built her life, guiding her actions, shaping her character, and inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her daughters, Inez Smith (Darren), Monkeea Stateson of Florida, Lashunda Stateson, her brother, James Daniel; and her sisters, Ruthie Williams and Shirley Polite (Hayes). She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Oscar (Joe) Daniel Jr., Sammie Lee Daniel and her beloved sisters Avis Jean Kinsey and Earnestine Barnes. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Chief Warrant Officer James O. Jones Jr. MSHS (Rohey) of South Korea, Cierra Jones BSN, RN, Dr. Aaliyah Harris DDS (Colton) of Florida and Megan Vickers, MSCJ. Her love and legacy will continue to live on through her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, James (JJ) Jones, Elijah (EJ) Jones, and Colton (CJ) Harris Jr. She was also blessed with two beloved bonus grandchildren, Gabrielle Smith and Kailand (KJ) Smith. In addition, she leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who brought immense joy to her life. She will be remembered not only for her strength, determination, and steadfast faith, but for the way she made individuals feel loved, valued, and at home. Her hospitality provided a source of comfort, and her bold prayers were a source of strength. • Because she firmly believed that Abraham was the father of faith, she often looked to his example of unwavering trust in God. She took pride in modeling the importance of living out that faith through love, kindness, compassion, and service to others. The seeds of faith, love, and grace that she planted throughout her life will continue to flourish in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was an example of remaining anchored in God’s promises, through every trial and triumph. While we will grieve her absence, we find peace in knowing that her beautiful legacy lives on in every life she touched, every prayer she prayed, and every cherished memory we hold dear. Though she is no longer with us in body, her prayers will continue to surround and uplift us, and her loving spirit will forever watch over us beneath the shadow of her wings. Her unshakeable faith, boundless love, and enduring legacy will remain deeply rooted in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her. Even though the Lord has called her from labor to reward, the memories she created, the Christian values she instilled, and the love she shared will continue to guide and inspire generations to generations. "Her children arise up, and call her blessed." Proverbs 31:28 Arrangements entrusted to Wyche’s Funeral Home (www.wychesfuneralhomeinc.com)
