Funeral photography

Some families hire a photographer for a funeral, memorial or celebration of life, to keep a record of the people who came and the tributes shared. It's a personal choice. If you're considering it, talk with the funeral home and your officiant first, because some services and venues limit photography.

Questions to ask a photographer

  • Will you work quietly, without flash, during the service?
  • Which parts of the day will you cover, and for how long?
  • When will we receive the photos, and who keeps the rights to them?
  • What is the total price, and what does it include?
