Throop Funeral Home began in 1883 as VanAllsburg Furniture and Undertaking on Main Street in Coopersville. The current operation was established in 1949 by Harlind Throop, passed to his sons Clark and LeRoy in 1975, then to Clark's son Kenneth in 2008, marking three generations of Throop family ownership. With Kenneth's son Phillip graduating from mortuary school in 2018, the business is entering its fourth generation.
