Strickland Funeral Home traces its roots to 1894, when Jebb Lee Woods and Mary Jane Sims Woods established Woods Funeral Home in Somerville. Lee Woods entered the funeral business in 1905 after working as a grocery clerk where caskets were sold, eventually becoming the community's undertaker with the first funeral parlor on Seventh Street in Somerville.

After Woods passed away in 1932, the business continued under his wife, son Walter Lee Woods, and daughter Ruth Strickland. In 1966, Walter Woods sold his shares to Donald Lee Strickland and Nello Strickland, Jr., and the business was incorporated as Strickland Funeral Home. The Caldwell location now operates alongside the Somerville facility, serving families throughout Burleson County.

The funeral home offers both traditional burial and cremation services with options for full funeral services, memorial services, or private arrangements. Families can incorporate tribute videos, keepsakes, and live streaming to help friends and family participate from a distance.
