Shawsheen Funeral Home was established in 1927 near Bedford's Town Common, making it the town's first and longest operating funeral home. Pierre A. Dillen purchased the firm in 1955, and the Dillen family has owned and operated the business for 65 years.
Jack J. Dillen, son of Pierre, currently serves as owner, operator, and licensed funeral director. He completed his apprenticeship from 1979 to 1983, graduated from The New England Institute of Anatomy and Embalming in 1983, and assumed full leadership of the family business in 1999.
The funeral home moved to its current facility at 281 The Great Road in 1982, a custom-built location with expansive parking designed to serve Bedford and surrounding communities. Services include traditional burial, cremation with various memorial options, and veteran honors programs.
