The Weymouth location occupies an historic property that served as the Half Way House inn on the Boston to Plymouth road in the 1700s, operated by the Rice Family who also owned an adjacent furniture factory. The site functioned as a stop on the Underground Railroad and was later the residence and workplace of Civil War veteran Willard Dunbar, who served as both undertaker and town official. Charlie W. Dunbar succeeded his father Willard, transforming the property into a formal funeral home in the 1930s.
Mortimer N. Peck worked under Charlie W. Dunbar before eventually succeeding him. In 1933, Dunbar helped Mortimer Peck establish the Braintree location in the center of town. The funeral home is currently operated by Russ Peck, Jr., who holds an MBA, JD, and funeral director license, representing multiple generations of family ownership. The business maintains locations in both Braintree and Milton, serving Norfolk County families.
