Nulty Funeral Home was established in 1888 when James T. Nulty began offering services as a practical embalmer and undertaker in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. The business moved to the corner of Frankford Avenue and Church Street in 1905, where it served the Frankford community for over 115 years before relocating one mile away to Orthodox Street in 2022.

Six generations of the Nulty family have served families since the funeral home's founding. John Nulty joined his father in 1905 at age 16, followed by his son James in 1938, James Jr. in 1965, and son-in-law Paul Mundy in 1985. Sarah Mundy, the sixth generation, began working at the funeral home in 2009, continuing the family tradition that has now spanned more than 135 years.

The funeral home conducts services at its own facility or at local nursing homes, churches, and chapels throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs. Staff work with clergy members from many faiths to arrange religious services according to each family's preferences and traditions.
