About Wackerman Funeral Home
Wackerman Funeral Home has served the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia across three generations, since Charles V. Wackerman founded the business in the early 1940s in Germantown before relocating to Northern Liberties and later Fox Chase in 1958. Dorothy Meehan Wackerman earned her funeral director's license in 1952, and Austin C. Wackerman led the home from 1944 until his passing in 2017, having been licensed since 1969 and trained at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
The funeral home remains family-operated today under Elizabeth Wackerman Bailey, Supervisor, and Emily Wackerman Ellingsworth, a licensed funeral director. Charles Wackerman was a lifetime member and past president of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and served as Chairman of the Pennsylvania State Board of Funeral Directors.
Arrangements are handled directly by a member of the Wackerman family, including traditional funeral services, burials, cremations, and out-of-area transport coordination. Staff are available for arrangements around the clock, serving families throughout Philadelphia and nearby areas including Abington, Aldan, Ambler, and Bala Cynwyd.
