Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors was established in 1912 by R. B. Leatherwood on the Hillsboro courthouse square. Ford Marshall and H. V. Aderhold purchased the business in 1923, initially operating as Marshall & Aderhold before becoming Marshall & Marshall in 1924. Louie Marshall led the firm's growth until 1967, with C. E. Holloway and his wife Lillie Fae joining in 1949 and C. E. becoming co-owner in 1963.
The funeral home expanded to Whitney in 1967, opening a full-service location exceeding 6,000 square feet to serve western Hill County. Lewis Hollingsworth, who grew up in Blooming Grove, partnered with the firm and co-owned the Itasca location known as Hollingsworth-Marshall through the 1980s.
The funeral home offers both traditional burial and cremation services with options ranging from full funeral services to private family gatherings. Services can be personalized with tribute videos, keepsakes, and live streaming for distant family members. The funeral home maintains gathering spaces for family and friends and provides grief support resources.
