Horizon Funeral Home was acquired by Dalhart Funeral Home & Cremation Services in November 2025 and all services are now consolidated under locally owned operation at the Dalhart Funeral Home location on Rock Island Avenue. The acquisition returned the business to local ownership under funeral director and embalmer Luis Mendoza after years of corporate operation based in Houston.
Horizon was originally founded and operated by Phillip Hass, a longtime Dalhart resident who served families until his passing in late 2020. Mendoza previously managed Horizon before opening Dalhart Funeral Home in 2024, and the current facility occupies the original Hass Funeral Home building that holds significant history in the community.
