Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home was founded by Otis and Gertrude Hopkins in the early 1930s after the couple moved from Garrettsville to Akron. Gertrude became a licensed funeral director in 1938, and their daughter Dorla and son-in-law Robert W. Lawver joined the business in 1949 as licensed funeral directors, leading to the official renaming as Hopkins Lawver. The funeral home is now operated by the third and fourth generations of the family, including Ted Lawver, his daughter Sarah, and her husband Roger Dishong.
The business acquired the Mogadore location in 1948 and expanded to Uniontown in 1977. Services include traditional burial, cremation with various memorial options, tribute videos, keepsakes, and live-streaming capabilities for remote attendees. The funeral home also offers pre-planning programs.
