Lantzer Funeral Home was founded in June 1924 by Elza and Minnie Adams at a different location in Beach City before moving to a larger facility at 231 Second Avenue in 1934 to accommodate families preferring calling hours and services at the funeral home. The business became Adams-Lantzer Funeral Home in 1938 when Edward Lantzer Jr., a Cleveland Mortuary School graduate, married Veda Adams and joined the family operation, eventually purchasing it in 1953 and renaming it Lantzer Funeral Home.
Edward Lantzer Jr. operated the funeral home until his death in 1978, after which his daughter Barbara Garver and her husband Clinton continued the business with Veda's assistance. Barbara Garver earned her funeral director's license in 1997, representing the third generation of family involvement in serving Beach City and the surrounding Stark County communities.
