Combest Family Funeral Homes & Crematory traces its roots to 1962, when Martin and Billie White purchased Stanley Funeral Home in Tahoka and renamed it White Funeral Home. After Martin White's unexpected death in 1972, Billie White continued operating the business and obtained her funeral director's license. Rufus Gerner joined the staff in 1973 and remains with the firm today.

During the mid-1980s, Billie White expanded into O'Donnell to serve Lynn County families, followed by a ground-up facility built in Idalou that opened January 1987 and a Lubbock location established in 1995. In 2007, Billie White-Everett passed ownership to her nephew Kevin Combest and his wife Tonya, who had previously worked with her at Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home in Floydada and co-owned Combest-Miller Mortuary from 1999 to 2007.

Kevin and Tonya Combest were instrumental in developing new Texas crematory legislation, actively participating in the passage of House Bill 56 during the 80th Legislative Session in July 2007. The funeral home operates an on-site crematory and offers tribute videos, keepsakes, and live-streaming capabilities for services.
