Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory traces its roots to 1962, when Martin and Billie White purchased Stanley Funeral Home in Tahoka and renamed it White Funeral Home. After Martin White's unexpected death in 1972, Billie White-Everett, a licensed funeral director since 1959, continued operating the business and hired Rufus Gerner in 1973, who remains on staff today. The business expanded during the 1980s and 1990s to include locations in O'Donnell, Idalou, and Lubbock.

In August 2007, Billie White-Everett passed ownership to her nephew Kevin Combest and his wife Tonya, who had previously worked with her at Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home in Floydada. Kevin and Tonya were co-owners of Combest-Miller Mortuary and Crematory Service from 1999 to 2007 before acquiring the family business. Beginning in 2004, the Combests became active participants in developing new crematory laws in Texas, contributing to the passage of House Bill 56 in the 80th Legislative Session in July 2007.

The funeral home maintains an on-site crematory and serves families throughout Lynn County. Staff offers live-streaming services for families who cannot attend in person and provides grief support resources.
