Samuel C. Butler founded Butler & Son Funeral Home in 1971, with his son Timmy R. Butler joining the business in 1985 to form the current operation. The family expanded in February 2004 by opening Butler & Son Funeral Services as a second location, allowing them to serve Sampson, Cumberland, Bladen, and Duplin Counties along with Clinton.
The funeral home is staffed by multiple family members including Maxine Butler-Wall, who joined as a Funeral Director and Vice-President in 1991, and Louise Butler and Samuel Butler Jr., who both came into the business in 2001 and 2002.
