Char Barrett founded A Sacred Moment in 2007 after becoming a certified celebrant and earning a degree in mortuary science, specializing in home funeral support. She trained with Final Passages and served as the first president of the National Home Funeral Alliance, bridging traditional funeral service with the home funeral movement. The funeral home has guided dozens of families through home funeral vigils locally and nationally.

A Sacred Moment operates chapels in Everett and offers an on-site cremation facility where families can witness the placement of their loved one. Services include direct cremation, expedited cremation, witnessed placement with rituals, and scattering services from Washington State ferries. The funeral home provides viewings ranging from one-hour private sessions for immediate family to four-hour gatherings for up to 50 guests.

The staff includes Bindi, a comfort dog who accompanies families and attends Camp Erin, an annual three-day bereavement camp for children.
