A celebration of life service for Mrs. Effie Z. Phillips will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 1:00 P. M. in the Chapel of Wyche’s Funeral Home.
Rev. Albert Campbell will officiate and the interment will follow in the New Providence Church cemetery, Cadwell, Ga.
Mrs. Phillips was born on October 8, 1929, and was known as “Z” by friends and family. Her parents were Viola Phelps Langston and Lawrence Langston of the Burch’s Settlement, in Cadwell Georgia Mrs. Effie Zeora Phillips, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 11, 2022. She was a member, the pianist and one of the original co-founders of the United Christian Church in Dublin, Georgia, pastored then, by Reverend Meldon Mitchell. Mrs. Phillips also operated a café in Dublin Georgia and became a homemaker and a beautician during her lifetime. She was the widow of Oscar Phillips, who was a veteran and a retired civil service employee. Together, they built their home in East Dublin Georgia and had two children. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Donnell Phillips Campbell, of Louisville, Kentucky and son, Mr. Leris Lavell Phillips, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She has three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Friends are being received at the family residence, 1121 Old River Road, East Dublin, Georgia. The family request that CO-VID 19 protocol be adhered to.
