William Hall
Sharon -- William Alexander Hall passed away peacefully at his home in Sharon, S.C., on July 24th, at the age of 90. Born on November 9, 1923, he lived a long and full life as a lover of hunting, the outdoors, and the Gamecocks. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, a WWII Army Veteran, and worked as a self-employed carpenter to support his family until his retirement. His road-side produce stand was legendary in the area after his retirement where his vegetables came with a complimentary joke and smile.
William married Julia Lattimore on October 9, 1948. They were happily married for 65 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bessie and Herbert Hall, his brothers, Robert Hall, Charles Hall, Joe Hall, Alfred Hall, his sister Mamie Robinson, and son-in-law Bobby King.
He is survived by his spouse, Julia Lattimore Hall of Sharon, SC, son Roger (Lori) Hall of Sharon, SC, daughters Teresa Hall King (Bobby-deceased) of York, SC and Wanda Hall Childers of Hickory Grove, SC, brother Thomas (Roberta) Hall of Hickory Grove, SC, grandchildren Jeffrey (Stephanie) Hall of Sharon, SC, Shelly (Eric) Ruth of York, SC, Todd (Carol) Johnson of Hickory Grove, SC, great grandchildren Willie Johnson, Mallory Johnson, Hall Crocker and Savannah Ruth, special niece Cathy Adams, special nephew Jimmy L. Gilfillan and other nieces, nephews and relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church fellowship hall in Hickory Grove, SC on Saturday, July 26, 2014.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Samuel H. Murphy and Rev. Ronnie Duncan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Agape Hospice, 817 East Liberty St., York, SC., 29745 and the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 158, Hickory Grove, SC 29717.
