Walter “Dan” Daniel Smith, Jr., 80, passed away at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church at 11 AM. The family will receive friends at Kings Mountain Chapel UMC from 10-11 AM on Saturday, July 22, 2017.
Born in Gastonia, NC, Dan was the son of the late Walter Daniel Smith, Sr. and Clara Dickson Smith. He worked at the US Post Office as a rural carrier for thirty years and worked at Rock Hill Printing and Finishing for twenty-two years. Dan was a member of Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church in York and served in the SC National Guard.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Robin Smith, son, Tim Smith (Lee), brother, Kenneth “Dick” Smith (Gloria), niece, Allison Smith, grandson, Daniel Smith, and granddaughter, Clara Smith.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Oneida Clinton Smith.
