Verna Fewell YORK Mrs. Verna Mason Faris Fewell, 88, of 406 Lakeview Drive died Friday, May 25, 2012, at St. Frances Hospital Eastside in Greenville, SC. The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in York. Rev. Dr. Ed Jillson will be officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 28, 2012, from 5 - 7 PM at Bratton Funeral Home. Verna was a daughter of the late Edgar Miles and Alida Louise Suggs Faris. She was the widow of Joseph E. "Preach" Fewell, Sr., was a member of First Presbyterian Church in York, and was a retired educator from the Clover School District. She is survived by children, Dr. Joe Fewell of Hickory, NC, Ginger McNeill of Pawleys Island, SC, Cheryl Sommers of Greenville, SC, Eddie Fewell and wife Gay of Greenville, SC, grandchildren, Melanie Dejong, Michael Sommers, Joseph A. Fewell, Casey F. Combs, Millie Sommers, Caitlin Fewell, Donna Lynn Fewell, Molly McNeill, Mary Miles Fewell, great grandchildren, Raegan Sommers, Attlie Edens, Lucas Dejong, Philippa Combs, and two step grandchildren, Matt Bowers, and Lee Bowers. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jeannie Fewell. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Liberty Street, York, SC 29745, or to a charity of ones choice.
