CLOVER -- Shirley Marie Putnam Carson, 75, of 308 Valley Ave passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014, at her home in Clover.
The funeral will be at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Clover First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Carson and Rev. Donald Mitchelson officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM at Clover First Freewill Baptist Church.
Born in Haywood County, NC, Shirley was the daughter of the late Don Putnam and Alice Messer Putnam. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was considered the First Lady of Clover First Freewill Baptist Church, where she and husband Rev. Marvin Carson have served for 40 years. She was a Sunday School teacher, church florist, and a mother to many in her church family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by husband Rev. Marvin Carson of Clover, SC, sons, Mark Carson (Heather) of Clover, SC, Eddie Carson (Chris) of Gastonia, NC, brothers, Robert Messer of Clyde, NC, William Putnam of Bethel, NC, and Jack Putnam of Canton, NC, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Carson Bolin.
