ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Sara Dickson Sears, 80, of Rock Hill passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Willow Brook at Park Pointe Village.
The funeral will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Ebenezer A.R.P. Church with Rev. Mel Wines officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in York. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 6- 7:30 PM at Bratton Funeral Home in York.
Sara was a daughter of the late Ernest E. Dickson and Rachel Parks Dickson. Sara was the widow of Victor McMackin Jr. and Carol F. Sears. Sara was a member of Ebenezer A.R.P. Church in Rock Hill, was retired from the Celanese Corp., and was a graduate of Winthrop College.
She is survived by four step daughters, Pam Sears Suggs of Summerville, SC, Janice Sears Ashley of Lancaster, Rosanne Sears Strait (P. Eddie) of Rock Hill, Christy Sears Strait (W. Eddie) of Rock Hill, brothers, Ralph Dickson (Margie) of Rock Hill, Bobby Dickson of Rock Hill, Albert Dickson (Elaine) of York, sister Aileen Dickson Wallace of Rock Hill, SC, sister-in-law Betty Smith Dickson of Florence, SC. Also surviving are grandchildren, Stacy Strait McConaghy, Elizabeth Ashley Bryant, Tracie Suggs, Kelly Suggs DeWeil, and Ashley Strait, great grandchildren, Caroline and Jonah DeWeil, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey E. Dickson and Avery Lamar Dickson, and sons-in-law, Don E. Ashley and Bobby M. Suggs.
