Rosetta “Rosie” Johnson Sibley, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at her home.
The funeral will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Bratton Funeral Home in York with Rev. Roger Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 PM at Bratton Funeral Home, Sunday, and other times at the home of daughter, Sandi, 1707 Black Hwy, York.
Born in York County, Rosie was the widow of Donald M. Sibley and a daughter of the late Zeb V. Smith and the late Lula Clinton Smith. She enjoyed sewing, baking and working in her yard. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Rosie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC.
Surviving are her daughters, Teresa Bumgardner of Charleston, Sandi Johnson-Clark (Greg) of York; sons, Donnie Johnson (Denice) and Michael Sibley (Jenna) both of York, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Vanessa S. Martin (Roger) of Claremont, NC, Myrtle Badger and Esther Sosbee, both of Gastonia NC.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sibley was preceded in death by her brothers Robert Smith, Joseph Smith, and Aron Barber, and one sister, Faye Houck.
The family would like to thank Providence Care in York, SC for the care and support. And a special thank you to her baby sister, Vanessa, for all the love and care she gave throughout her time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her memory to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
