Phillip Sebastian YORK – Phillip Taylor Sebastian passed away at his home on February 11, 2012 at the age of 74. Phill was born in Charlotte, NC on July 25, 1937 and grew up in Salisbury, NC. He was the son of the late Henry and Vallee Sebastian. He married Dolores Gayle Cooke of Kannapolis, NC in 1960. His extensive military career consisted of proudly serving our country for 23 years in the U.S. Army as Master Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran, served in the 4th Infantry Division, was a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He also was appointed Honorary Lieutenant Colonel Aide-de-Camp of the Alabama State Militia in 1973 by the Governor George Wallace and Major General Charles A. Rollo. Phill moved to York, SC in 1974 from Birmingham, AL to serve as a recruiter for the U.S. Army out of Charlotte, NC and to raise his family. After retiring from the military, he worked with Bo Jangles Corporation as Franchise Coordinator and Unit Director until his final retirement to his true passion, wood working. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in York, SC and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a beloved husband, terrific dad and wonderful papa to his four adoring grandchildren. Phill is survived by his wife, Dolores Gayle Sebastian son, Phillip Todd Sebastian and his wife Kimberly B. Sebastian of York, SC and their children Phillip Trevor and Kaitlyn Ann Sebastian son, Mark Dustin Sebastian and wife Kelly S. Sebastian of Rock Hill SC and their children, Megan Noel and Dylan Thomas Sebastian and sister, Libby S. Clements of Rocky Point, NC. He was preceded in death by brother, Johnie C. Sebastian of Wilmington, NC. There will be a graveside service held at Grandview Memorial Park – Hollis Lakes, Rock Hill, SC at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 with visitation immediately following at the Sebastian home at 1927 Colonial Acres in York, SC. Donations can be made in Phill’s honor to the First Presbyterian Shoe Fund c/o First Presbyterian Church, 10 West Liberty Street, York, SC 29745.
