Remembering Ossie
A Home- Celebration for Deacon Ossie J. Waters will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at the Buckeye Baptist Church, The Rev. David G. Flowers will officiate and the interment will follow in the Waters Cemetery, 698 Waters Road, East Dublin, Georgia.
Deacon Ossie James Waters was born on January 23, 1935 to the late James and Magnora Wright Waters. He had been a prominent figure in Middle Georgia and the surrounding counties. Building many facilities under the umbrella of Dublin Construction, Dublin Industrial and others To name a few building, such as the Laurens County Library, Capital City Bank(Main Office), Dublin Courier Herald and a plethora of schools, churches, including Buckeye Baptist Church, Fairview Park Hospital, doctors’ offices and a host of residential homes were all built by Deacon Waters (owner of Buckeye Masonry). Ben Hall, a well known friend, , said, He used his God given skills to build a very good reputation.”
Deacon Waters was a member at Buckeye Baptist church from his early childhood years where he served in multiple capacities for many years. He enjoyed waking up every Sunday morning to open up the church to prepare for Sunday School and Worship Service. He also prepared the pool for baptism, picked up children in the neighborhood in his personal vehicle and taught Sunday School for many years. He served on the Deacons’ Board and later was voted chairman until he resigned due to declining health.
Deacon Ossie Waters leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Ruby M. Waters, East Dublin, Ga., five children, Benjie (Amy) Waters, Dublin, Ga., Gail Waters, Lithonia, Ga., Tammonla Jordan and Ricky (Shurnise) Waters, Dublin, Ga., Linda (James) Graham, Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and a adopted God-son, Rev. Tracey Wheeler, Sr., Sandersville, Ga., Brothers, Richard (Dneva) Waters, Atascadero, CA., Deacon Laurence (Lola) Wright, Larry (Jennett) Waters, Dublin, Ga., Sisters, Bettye Maddox, Debra(Nathaniel)Godfrey, Dublin, Ga., Jonette Frye, Macon, Ga., Sister-In-Laws, Eloise Cannon, Wrightsville, Ga., Mary Lee Carswell, Bridgeport, Ct., Brothers-in laws, Willie(Joyce)Hooks, Sam Cannon, Bridgeport, CT., one uncle, Johnny Pooler, Dublin, Ga., Grandchildren, Bradford (Kyrsten),Brandi (Desmond), Byron, Andre, Tevin, Michael, Brfittany, Kristal, Benjie Jr., Sincere, Kalem, David, Darren, Darius, Talena, Heather, 16 great-grand children and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
