Funeral Services for Mr. Windell Jackson will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Community Missionary Baptist Church, 627 James Grove Church Road, Wrightsville, Ga. at 2:00 P. M. The Overseer Elgin N. Dixon will officiate and interment will follow in the Carter’s Cemetery, Wrightsville, Ga. On Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at approximately 8:10 a.m. in the Fairview Park Hospital, God called the roll for Mr. Wendell Jackson, age 71, after an extended illness. Mr. Jackson was the second of five children born on August 03, 1946 in Johnson County to the parentage of the late Mr. Artis Jackson, Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Lee Gregory Jackson. He was a devoted father, very well known in the Wrightsville/Johnson County community where he grew up and Laurens County as well. He was drafted in the Unites States Army and served for 2 years from 1966 and honorably discharged in 1968. He began work at J. P. Stevens /Fortsman Textile Industry from 1968 to 2005 resulting in approximately 37 years. While working with J.P. Stevens/Fortsman, he served as a section leader/supervisor. He joined the Rock Spring Baptist Church at an early age and served as a Deacon. He later joined membership with the St. James C.M.E. Church where he served as a Steward until his health declined. He was well respected in the community in which he lived and has been a blessing to the many lives of whom he touched during his tenure here on earth. Mr. Wendell Jackson leaves to cherish his memories three children namely: Sonja Denise Jackson of Wrightsville, GA.; Michael Jermaine Jackson of Orlando, FL; and Nathan Lashaun Jackson of Chehalis, WA; Eight grandchildren: Mykel, Nicholas, Taylor, Nathan, Jr., Jacob, Peyton, Tyjuanna (deceased) and Ethan (deceased); Siblings: Artis (Erna) Jackson, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; Shelton (Marie) Jackson of Dublin, GA; Annie Jackson-Thomas and Joycelyn Jackson both of Wrightsville, GA.; four Uncles: Sidney W. Gregory of Wrightsville, GA; Bobby Ray Jackson and Henry Jackson of Philadelphia, PA; and Boisy (Delores) Jackson, Jr. of Daytona Beach, FL; Two Aunts: Hattie P. Baker of Detroit, Michigan and Eva P. Murphy of Daytona Beach, FL. He also leaves to cherish his memory a devoted companion of many years, Ms. Willie Mae Stanley, of East Dublin, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including two devoted cousins, Mr. Walter L. Gregory and Mr. A. B. Salter; and a devoted friend, Mr. Randall Meeks. To God be the Glory for the Life and Legacy Mr. Wendell Jackson has lead and left for generations to come. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Miss Joycelyn Jackson, 205 Carter Cemetery Road, Wrightsville, GA.
