Willie Lee King , Jr.

A homegoing celebration of life memorial service for Mr. Willie Lee King, Jr, will be held Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 3:00 P. M. in the chapel of Wyche’s Funeral Home. Rev. Michelle Hayes will officiate. Elder David Michael Northcutt will deliver the eulogy. Mr. Willie Lee King Jr answered God’s call home on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Willie was born November 6, 1953, in Dublin, Georgia, to the parentage of Willie Lee King, Sr. and Linnie Northcutt King. Willie was a lifelong member of Howard Chapel United Methodist Church where a spark for his first love, music, was ignited. His passion for melodic sounds was cultivated as a member of the Oconee High School Marching Band under the leadership of Johnny Williams. He expressed that love as a local DJ in his younger years and the maker of many tapes, CDs and playlists for his friends and others who sought him out. Willie Jr. was a 1971 graduate of Dublin High School. He worked for Bassett Furniture Company until the factory closed, when he became a proud member of Dublin City Schools staff as a custodian until his retirement in 2021. He could be seen at many of the school sports events donning the Green & Gold from his distant perch. Willie Jr. also displayed his pride and work ethic in his floor maintenance business and partnership with his father in King Janitorial Service. He was a quiet man, but his love was felt by the people he called family and friend. He had his own way of bringing laughter and joy to someone’s life with his few words, smirks and laughs. Willie Jr. was preceded in death by his mother Linnie King and his brother, Samuel K King. Left to cherish his memory, his father Willie Lee King, Sr., and his sisters, Evelyn Moore Rozier and Susie Mills, all of Dublin, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
