Obituary

Funeral Services for Mr. Merdie Lee Rozier II, will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the New Canaan Baptist Church, 317 Carolina Avenue, Chester, Georgia. The Rev. David Turner will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Merdie Lee Rozier II, the son of the late Merdie Lee Rozier, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Sweeting was the second of three children, born on January 22, 1955 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Educated in the Public Schools of Laurens County in Dublin,. Georgia, Merdie graduated from West Laurens High School in May 1973. After High School, he joined the United States Air Forces in August 1973 with an honorable discharge on May 1975. He was a senior Airmen for four years and employed at Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem for more than thirty-five years. He retired September 20 l 0. He worked for Air Serv Corporation from 2014 until November 2016. His Christian journey began at an early age where he received the right hand of fellowship by the late Reverend W. J Wimberley Merdie was a very athletic and had a passion for sports. He received various certificates and awards for his participation in basketball, track and field and DOL Horseshoe tournaments from 1970 until 2011. He also enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities. Merdie is survived by his loving wife of seventeen years, Roxcena Brown-Rozier of College Park, Georgia; one son, Akeem Lee Rozier of College Park, Georgia; one grand-daughter, London Rozier; Two brothers, Mr. Bobby (Martha) Louis Rozier of West Palm Beach, FL, and Mr. Kenneth (Wilamina) Rozier of Philadelphia, PA; Four aunts, seven sister-in-laws, six brother-in-laws - and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
