Remembering Mamie

Mamie Dean Burney - Full Obit and Pic A Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Mamie Dean Burney, 83, of Dublin, Georgia will be held Friday. February 3, 2023 at 1:00 P. M. at the Jordan Grove Christian Center. Hwy 319 East Dublin, Georgia. The Rev. Wilbert Simmons will officiate and the interment will follow in the Mt. Pullen A. M. E. Church Cemetery. Mrs. Burney was born on April 17, 1939 to the late Robert and Addie Pearl Myricks. She joined the Mt. Pullen A. M. E. Church at an early age and served faithfully until her health declined. Mrs. Burney was employed with Shamrock Pants Factory, Bil-Jo Pants Factory, Dexter Pants Factory, the Elks Lodge and Twin Oaks Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center, where she retired. Mother Burney was very active member at the Mt. Pullen A. M. E. Church, including being A Steward, Trustee, Choir member, Hospitality Committee, Food / Prep committee and the church house keeping committee. Mrs. Burney transition from labor to reward Tuesday, January 31, 2023 and her home with her Children by her side.. She was a life-long member of the Mt. Pullen A. M. E. Missionary Society, and later became a member of the Eastern District Women’s Missionary Society, of the Southwest Georgia Conference and the East Macon Women’s Missionary Society of the Macon Conference of the Georgia Sixth Episcopal District until her health declined. Mrs. Burney was a very dedicated and active member of Seniors Are Living Treasure (S. A. L. T.) Ministry. She was well known in her community while serving others. Mrs. Burney’s passions included cooking, walking, traveling and working with her ferns. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. J. C. Burney, two daughters, Glenda Rawlings and Glenda Taylor, two sisters, Phadoshia (Rev T. W.) Pooler, Robbie (Sammie) Wright, three brothers, Robert (Gin) Myricks, Theotis Myricks, and James (Bill) Myricks, and one bother-in-law, Ostell James. Left to cherish her memories and mourn her passing are her children, Quinsey (Levogie) Kates, Linda Burney Roberts, Joyce Burney, Patricia (Rev. Michael) Little, Gloria (Hardwick) Allen, Cynthia (Larry) Higdon, Jerome Jones, Lisa (Rev. Frank) Drakes and James (Toni) Burney, one sister, Mary Elizabeth James, sisters-in-love Juanita Myricks and Robbie Nell Holliman, a sister/ cousin, Reatha (Edward), Pittman Twenty grandchildren, fifty-five greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews ,relatives and friends.
