Obituary
A Celebration of Life service for Gwenetta M. Edwards will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022
at 11: 00 A. M. in the Buckeye Baptist Church, 2176 New Buckeye Road, East Dublin, Georgia
31027. The Rev. David G. Flowers will officiate and the interment will follow in the church
cemetery.
Gwenetta M. Edwards, 72, was born May 8, 1950, in Dublin, Georgia to the late George and Doretha Marshall. Gwen was the 11th child of 14 children. On July 27, 2022, while at home Gwen transitioned from this life and entered into rest with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gwen confessed her hope in Christ at Buckeye Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Rev. Gilbert Dean. Gwen served in church for all her life in various ministries.
Gwen graduated from Dr. B. D. Perry High school. Later, Gwen enlisted in the United States Army and completed basic training.
Gwen met and married James Wilbert Smith, who preceded her in death. To this union one child was born, Gerald Jerome Smith. Gwen married Wesley Edwards on June 11, 1996.
Gwen is preceded in death by her parents George and Doretha Marshall, brothers Robert James Wright, Levester “Bo Pete” Marshall, Elester Marshall, Willie Lewis Marshall and Melvin Marshall.
Gwen leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Wesley Edwards, Jr. sons, Gerald (Nicole) Smith of Savannah Georgia, Torrey Edwards, Travis (Serena)Edwards both of Atlanta Georgia, two granddaughters Erica (Waun) Brown of Lawrenceville Georgia, Sarai Edwards of Atlanta Georgia, two grandsons Samuel Edwards, Jace Edwards both of Atlanta, Georgia, two brothers Daniel Wright, Jimmy(Francis) Norris both of Dublin Georgia, six sisters Rose Pullins, Carrie(Ernest) Bush, Marilyn Allen all of Decatur, Georgia, Beatrice Plummer, Pearl Mayfield both of Dublin Georgia, Ruth Williams of Bronx New York, two great-grandsons Micah and Gabriel Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
Friends are being received at the family residence, 1276 New Buckeye Road, E. Dublin, Georgia 31027. The family request that CO-VID 19 protocol be adhered to.
