Remembering Gloria

A Life well lived celebration will be held for Gloria Jean Wright Pittman on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at 3:00 P. M. in the Buckeye Baptist Church, 2176 New Buckeye Road, East Dublin, Georgia 31027. The Rev. Otha Stanley will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. Gloria W. Pittman was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She departed this life at home peacefully on August 30, 2025. Her unwavering love, strength, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Born to the late Mattie P. Wright and the late Alton Wright, on March 30, 1954, Gloria was a beacon of compassion and kindness. She graduated from Dublin High School in 1971. After a brief time working at Uniroyal, she went on to provide over 30 years of committed service to Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automations). She retired when Rockwell closed in 2010. Not being one to slow down for very long, Gloria went back to work with Erdrich USA in 2013 until she was no longer able to work in 2018. Gloria was well known for her sense of fashion and style, and for her love of cooking, baking, decorating, and singing. She will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her generous heart, and the quiet optimism with which she faced life’s challenges. Her laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love will be deeply missed but never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Willie James Holmes; her grandchild, O'Miracyle Arline; her nephews, Anthony Holmes and Frederick Williams; her niece, Jacqueline Christian; and brothers-in-law, Jessie Lee Walker and Willie Gene Williams. Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her children: daughters Sharon W. O'Neal (Tyress), Catherine W. Bailey, and Cheronica Q. Wright; and son Kenneth Wright (Shonyeka). Her nurturing spirit also lives on in her cherished grandchildren: Demontaevious Wright, Jhabarie O'Neal, Jha'Mattie Wright, Alexis Wright, and Zanavia McCombs. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Veola Walker and Barbara Holmes; her brother, Alton Wright, Jr.; her lifelong best friend, Rosaline Flanders; and longtime friends, Jerome Pittman and Brenda Hester. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends will continue to celebrate her life and carry forward her memory as well. Friends are being received at the family residence, 633 Pine Cone Road, Dublin, Ga. Mrs. Pittman will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services.
