Remembering Obie
A Celebration of Life service for Obie “Sister” Wells Nickens will be held Saturday, September 9,
2017 at 1:00 P. M. in the Mt. Pullen A. M. E. Church, 1304 Lakeway Road, Dublin, Ga.
Rev. Cecil Moore will officiate.
Mrs. Nickens was born September 14, 1926 in Laurens County, Georgia to the union of the late
Joe B. and Pinkie Jones Wells. She departed this life peacefully September 1, 2017 at home.
Her early years were spent in Laurens County before she relocated to New York. In New York
she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Alfred Nickens. She was employed by the New
York State government for many years and retired in 1990. She returned to the Dublin area and
united with the Mt. Pullen A. M. E. Church, when she served faithfully.
Mrs. Nickens leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, a loving daughter,
Ms. Patricia Nickens, Dublin, Ga., four grandchildren, Michael Nickens, Macon, Ga., Tiffany Woods,
Fairburn, Ga., Olivia (Eric) Branham, Decatur, Ga., and Sierra Nickens, Dublin, Ga., four nieces, four
nephews, and many other loving family members and friends.
Friends are being received at the family residence, 1004 Stonewall Street, Dublin, Ga.
