ROCK HILL – Mildred Ree Blanton Borders passed away at home on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 following an extended illness.
Mrs. Borders was born to Fred Byron and Betty Biggerstaff Blanton in Shelby, North Carolina on April 27, 1926. She married Henderson Falls Borders on July 26, 1947 and they moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1949 where they raised their family. She was one of the founding members of Eastview Baptist Church and remained a member until her death. Mrs. Borders, who, except for a few years as a bookkeeper for Sealtest Dairies in Rock Hill, was a stay at home mother and true Farmer’s Wife. She loved her vegetable garden, crocheting afghans and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Borders was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, a brother Gene Blanton and great-grandson, Alexander Long. She is survived by her four children, Kay B. Maynard (Ben), Marsha B. Black (Arthur), Kathryn B. Peterson all of York, and Edwin Borders (Marianne) of Catawba, SC; 11 grandchildren, Charlie Maynard (Stephanie) of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Matt Maynard (Hannah) of Spartanburg, SC, Andy Maynard (Danielle) of Austin, Texas, Blake Maynard and Haley Maynard of Rock Hill, Wendy B. Long (Ben) of Prosperity, SC, Donnie Burgess (Kim) of Smyrna, SC, Ree B. Smith (Ricky) of Batesburg, SC, Ian Peterson (Tabbitha) of Florida, Emma B. Peal (Josh) of Catawba, SC, and Shelby Hammond of Perris, California, 10 great grandchildren, Tabitha and Jerry Burgess, Nick and Camryn Long, Danielle Seals, Damian Maynard, Joesph and Damien Peterson, Thomas and Tobias Peal. Also surviving are sisters, Frances Beam (Charles) and Peggy Allen (Gene) of Shelby, NC.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Eastview Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Nunn and Rev. Ben Maynard officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and will be at the family home at other times.
The family wishes to express thanks to caregivers, Lisa, Paige, Priscilla, Stacey, and Stacy for the kindness and gentle care shown to their Mother. They also wish to thank Hospice and Community Care for their compassionate services.
