YORK -- Melvin Harper Brakefield, 74, of York passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Bratton Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Sturgis officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, August 14, 2015 from 2-3 PM.
Melvin was a son of the late Alva Brakefield and Eunice Lanier Brakefield. He was the widower of Betty Lou Head Brakefield and he retired from Pharr Yarns.
He is survived by daughter Lisa Digiacobbe of Rock Hill, SC, brother, Frank Brakefield of York, SC, 2 sisters, Pat Hicks of York, SC, and Faye Robinson of Charlotte, NC., 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Melvin was preceded in death by his brother Alvah Brakefield.
