Remembering Mattie
Funeral services for Ms. Mattie Lee Brantley will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 1 :00 p.m.in the Nev,, Mount Mariah AME Church, 415 Green St., Swainsboro, Ga. with the Rev. Benjamin Martin officiating and burial to follow in the Green’s Cemetery Crossing, Green Community, Swainsboro, Georgia. On Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Shamrock Nursing and Rehab Center in Dublin, Ga., the divine will of God called Ms. Mattie Lee Brantley to eternal rest. Ms. Brantley was born August 28, 1953 to the late Mr. Leroy Brantley and Mrs. Lucille Watson Brantley in Emanuel County.
Ms. Brantley attended the Emanuel County School System. She was a member of Forth's Grove Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the choir for many years. She was a devoted worker at Emanuel Child Development Center. She retired after working there for 25 years. She was also a foster mother, a Swainsboro Band Booster member and a Den Mother for the girls basketball team.
In addition to her father, Mr. Leroy Brantley, Sr. and mother, Mrs. Lucille Watson Brantley she is preceded in death by two brothers; Johnny B. Brantley and Leroy Brantley, Jr. Three sisters, Polly Brantley, Margaret (Pee-Wee) Scott and Elnora (Coot) Gardner. Also a devoted and loving friend Mr. Charles Canady .
Ms. Mattie leaves the following loved ones to cherish many special memories: her children: Alexander (Patricia)Bright of Atlanta, Ga., Derman (Claudia) Simmons Jr. of Harlem, Ga., Dorothy (Aaron ) Pierce of Dublin, Ga., and Tina Simmons of Swainsboro, Ga. Her brothers: Edward (Shirley) Brantley, Samuel (Jackie) Brantley and Carl Brantley all of Swainsboro, Ga. Her sisters: Louella Gracy of Augusta, Ga .. and Barbara Ricks of Swainsboro, Ga., 13 grandchildren, 4 great- grand-children, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Also three devoted friends, Ms. Louvmia Martin, Ms. Tefanie Matthews and Ms. Mary Ann Foster.
Ms. Brantley will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. Arrangements entrusted to Wyche's Funeral Home, Inc
