YORK -- Mary Ella Hoffman Johnson, at the wonderful age of 97 went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2013.
The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Sharon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Monica Tilley and Rev. Paul Ballard officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Bratton Funeral Home in York.
Mrs. Johnson was born March 21, 1916 to the late Ambrose Hinkle Hoffman and Martha Melissa Capps Hoffman. She was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church since 1953. Mary was a wonderful and caring person who loved her family.
She is survived by her daughter in law Faye Johnson, with whom she made her home for many years, four grandchildren; Penny Puckett, Brian Johnson (Carolyn) who also helped care for her, Dale Johnson (Susan), Bobby Wylie (Mary Ann), all of York, sister in law Margaret Ellen Hoffman of Gastonia, 8 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Miles Johnson, her son Albert H. Johnson, her brothers and sisters, and three great great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Interim Hospice who made it possible for Mrs. Johnson to spend her final days with the family and friends whom she loved so much.
