Mary Alice Harris

Mary Alice Harris, 94, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at White Oak Manor in Lancaster, SC. She was born on June 13, 1922 in Kannapolis, NC, but at an early age moved with her family to York, SC. She was the daughter of the late Robert D. Yarbrough and Daisy T. Yarbrough. She was preceded in death by her husband W.B. Harris.
Mrs. Harris was a long time member of Central Baptist Church of York, SC where she worked in many of the children’s ministries. She enjoyed being with the seniors on their many trips and excursions. Her favorite place to go was to the beach, especially with her sister Gladys. She took much joy in giving to each of her grand and great grandchildren their first bibles.
Mrs. Harris is survived by two sons, Larry R. Harris and his wife Frances of Lancaster, SC and Robert “Bob” Harris and his wife Connie of Fort Mill, SC. She has two granddaughters, Tonda Rice and her husband Mark of Rock Hill, SC and Katie Quinn and her husband Chris of Fort Mill, SC. She has six great grandchildren, Baileigh Rice, Kayleigh Quinn, Clay Quinn, Evan Quinn, Jake Harris and Sally Harris. She is also survived by her sister Gladys McClure of Charlotte, NC. She was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Herman and Bobby Yarbrough, and sisters, Betty Flowler and Gaynelle Loy.
A graveside service will be at 3 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York with Rev. Carey Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
