Martha Ann “Sugar Bear” Latham, 64, of Sharon, SC passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
The funeral service will be at 11am on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverends Donald Love and Laura Bratton officiating. Burial will be at Shady Grove UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bratton Funeral Home from 6-8PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
Born in York, SC, Ann was the daughter of the late Wesley Andrew Latham and Mary Elizabeth Bratton Latham. She was a graduate of Hickory Grove High School and Winthrop College. Initially, Ann taught school and coached in the Lockhart and Blacksburg school systems, and after 32 years of dedicated service as a Recreational Director/Counselor, she retired from York Place Episcopal Home for Children. Ann faithfully served in many roles at Shady Grove United Methodist Church and was a proud, lifelong member.
Ann “Sugar Bear” was a loyal and devoted daughter, sister, Aunt and friend, and she dearly loved her family and all her many, many friends. Sugar Bear enjoyed life and having fun, and she loved sports and, most importantly, was a HUGE Gamecock fan! She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Latham, sisters; Frances Faulkner (Chris), Linda Rhodes (Don), Ruth Wilkerson (Bill), Helen Boyd (Steve), sister in law, Nancy Latham, five nieces; Mary Ashley Gilfillan (Joey), Kelly Burton (Chuck), Katie Stikeleather (Travis), Mary Beth Harper (Sam), Leanne Jennings (Douglas), five nephews; Christopher Faulkner (Jessica), Alan Faulkner (Beth), Kevin Faulkner (Brannon), William Wilkerson (Christine), Wesley Boyd (Beth), and seventeen great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Latham.
