Martha Adkins
ROCK HILL -- Martha Caveny Adkins, 89, of 1056 Hands Mill Road passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at her home in Rock Hill, surrounded by her daughters.
The funeral will be on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Tirzah A.R.P. Church with Rev. Andy Putnam and Rev. Barry Eller officiating. Burial will be at Tirzah A.R.P. Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Tirzah A.R.P. Church Family Life Center, and other times at the home.
Martha was a daughter of the late Robert "Bob" Caveny and Irene Williams Caveny. She graduated from Winthrop Training School in 1942 and went on to attend Perry Business School. She was employed by RHP&F from 1945-1948, Lowenstein Federal Credit Union from 1948-1970 and then as a receptionist for Dr. Larry Frederick from 1970-1987. In 1945 she married Jack Adkins and together they raised five girls. She was a life time member of Tirzah A.R.P. Church where she served as Women’s President, Circle leader, Teacher and Mentor for many young members. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Newport Fire Dept.
She is survived by 5 daughters Cathy Morton of Rock Hill, SC, Carol Jenkins (Charlie) of Clover, SC, Jackie Byrum (Randy) of Rock Hill, SC, Judy Herron (Rhett) of Rock Hill, SC, Marti Caldwell (Rob) of Clover, SC, her sister, Carolyn (James) Matthews of Rock Hill, S.C.. Eight grandchildren, Chas Morton (Laura) of Rock Hill, SC, Robbie Morton of Rock Hill, SC, Christie Jenkins of Columbia, SC, Chuck Jenkins (Sara) of Charleston, SC, Amy Hodgson (Derek) of Rock Hill, SC, Curt Herron (Stephanie) of York, SC, Luke Caldwell and Jack Caldwell of Clover, SC. and five great- grandchildren, Kate Morton, John Michael Jenkins, Anna Banks Jenkins, Addyson Hodgson and Ryan Howard. There were also numerous “adopted” family members whom she loved as her own.
