Mamie "Lou" Anderson
YORK -- Mamie Louise Anderson departed this life on March 8, 2014, at her home on 500 Railroad Ave., York, S.C. The service will be held Thursday, March 13, 2014 at White Hill A.M.E. Zion Church, 2225 Old York Road, York, S.C., there will be a quiet hour from 1:00- 2:00 pm. followed by a home going service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Bratton Funeral Home in York.
Mamie was a member of White Hill A.M.E. Zion Church of York, S.C., where she attended for many years. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School, York, S.C., and she also worked as a weaver for Sullivan & Carson for more than thirty years. Mamie was a woman of strong will and she was never afraid to speak her mind. Although she did not have any biological children she served as a mother to many.
Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her brothers Walter Anderson (Shirley) of York, S.C. and James Anderson (Doreatha) of Rock Hill, S.C. She had three sisters Linda Sanders, Sylvia Anderson and Janice Anderson-Rainey (Angelo) all of York, S.C. She had two special daughters Kirsten Williams-Carothers (Jordan) of Clover, S.C., Disa Sanders of Gastonia, N.C. and five special grandchildren. She also had a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mamie was preceded in death by her mother the late Mammie Lee Anderson.
