YORK – LaVonne “Vonnie” J. Youngbood, our mama, 86, went to be with our Lord on March 16, 2014, at White Oak Manor in York.
The funeral will be at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Bratton Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 3-4 P.M. at Bratton Funeral Home in York.
Vonnie was born to the late William Neal and Dora Rhodes Johnson on December 21, 1927. She was the widow and loving wife of Wade Youngblood. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Wadeen Y. and Ben Williams, and Annette Y. Bell. Her five grandchildren, Melissa Reid, Lori Childers, Benjamin Williams Jr, Julie Childers, and Leslie Williams. Also eleven great grandchildren, and one preceded in death great great grandson. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Arthur, William Neal Jr., Landon, Robert, David, and Paul, and two sisters, Velma and Vera. Vonnie is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, whom she loved and cherished.
Vonnie served as a volunteer at Divine Saviour Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she had worked with the children, and sang in the choir. She helped start a Senior Citizen Group called "Horizons". She was a prayer warrior and always willing to help others. She deeply loved all her family and never had a harsh word to say to anyone, she was a beautiful Christian woman that radiated God's love in her heart.
There will always be a special place in our hearts for all the love and kindness given to our mother by the staff at White Oak Manor, York, SC.
