Kenneth Lee Shank, 76, of Sharon, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
The funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Bratton Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hawley and Rev. Arnie McManus officiating. Burial will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 – 3 PM at Bratton Funeral Home.
A native of Louisville, OH, Ken was the son of late Roy and Mable Shank. He graduated from Louisville High School in 1960 and graduated from the University of Akron, OH with a degree in accounting and engineering. Ken was drafted into the US Army and served his country during the Vietnam War, getting his special training at Fort Devens where he graduated #1 in the Army Security Agency Class. Ken had a love for basketball, playing on the high school, college, and also the Army team. He also had a love for the water and in May, 1994 became a PADI scuba diver instructor and taught many to scuba dive. Ken was retired from Bridgestone/Firestone Tire Company of Akron, OH, and also from Shell Oil Company, Houston, TX.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Sarah, step son Spencer Neelands, daughter in law DeDe, and his precious granddaughter Riley of Sharon, son Eric Shank of Virginia Beach, sisters, Deborah Patterson (Lloyd) of Virginia, Anna Mae Lantz (Lamar) of Indiana, Jean Witalis (Ken) of Ohio, and brother Don Shank (Terri) of Ohio. Ken is also survived by brother in laws Gil Geiser of Ohio, Wallace Ramsey (Carole) and Lawrence Ramsey (Carolyn) of York, sister in laws, Mamie Brady and Nancy Lanier of Rock Hill, and Joyce Montgomery (Wayne) of Clover.
The family also gives a special thanks to our devoted care giver, Cynthia Burris, for her love and care of Ken.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
