Devaughn Evan Sparks, “Johnny”, 91, of Rock Hill, SC passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC with Elder Melvin Clark officiating.
Johnny was born on April 19, 1929 in Mills River, NC. He was the son of the late Evan Sparks and Maude Morgan Sparks. John was a devoted husband to his late wife of 62 years, Hallie Belk Sparks. He retired from the US AIR FORCE after serving 3 tours during Vietnam while traveling most of the world. At his most current residence, Harbor Chase of River Walk, he enjoyed talking with his buddies about their military times. Johnny was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in York, SC. He loved his Kingdom Hall family and enjoyed spending time in his gardens and watching hummingbirds.
Johnny is survived by his son, Mike Manus (Vada), daughters-in-law, Libby Manus, Marlene Manus, and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Johnny was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas E. Sparks, Vernon Manus, and Eddie Manus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 250 W Alexander Love Hwy, York, SC 29745.
