YORK – John “Charley” Thompson, Sr., 66, of York passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 peacefully at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Rose Hill Cemetery in York. The family will receive family and friends following the service at their home, 1528 Moss Creek Road, York, SC 29745.
Born in San Bernardino, CA, Charley was the son of the late William H. Thompson and Dollie Woodham Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Reid Thompson, his four daughters; Karen M. Shaffer (Ric), Andrea Martin (Steve), C.J. Youngblood (Eric), and Sherrie Yerskey (Eric), his son, John C. Thompson, Jr., his sister, Beckie Craft (Rico), his brother, Denny Carr, 12 grandchildren, Richard, Megan, Kristen, Michealla, Samantha, Kira, Kason, Mera, Jonathon, Dakota, Carin, Willow, and his 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Charley was preceded in death by his son, Michael, sister, Jeannie Lucas, his brothers, Luke Lucas, Kip Thompson, Bobby Thompson, and his grandson Kyler Youngblood.
