GASTONIA -- John B. Marker, 85, of Gastonia, NC died suddenly Monday, September 30, 2013.
The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Bratton Funeral Home in York, SC with Rev. Joe Edwards officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 - 2 PM at Bratton Funeral Home.
John was a son of the late Jesse and Martha Kunkle Marker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Nellie F. Thompson Marker.
He is survived by three children, Sheila and husband John Cominsky of Clover, SC, Brad and wife Ann Marker of Gastonia, and Rose Rickrode of Gastonia, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and eight brothers and sisters.
John was a very proud, loving, and involved grandfather and great grandfather. He was an US Army veteran, avid country music fan, record collector, sports enthusiast, and chess player. His family was the most important thing to him and they loved him dearly. He will be missed!
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any Veteran's charity or program in John's name.
