John Carter

Mr. John Agustus Carter, 85, of Sharon, SC, slipped quietly away from this world Tuesday, August 15, 2017, to rejoin his beloved wife Margie in the abiding presence of their Redeemer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Vassey officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:30 AM at Hillcrest on Thursday.
From his share cropping roots, to his service in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War and beyond, he assumed many roles in life. John spent his career as a mechanical engineer, tree farmer, business man, Mason, and SC Forestry Board member, but most of all he will be remembered as a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his son John T. Carter and wife Sandy Brindle Carter of York, sisters, Betty Jo Champion and Martha Bridges, and brother David Carter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2020 Hillcrest Road, York, SC 29745.
