Hoyt Jodean “Joe” Ligon of York, SC passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 peacefully at his home and surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Cornerstone Family Worship Center in York, SC.
Joe was born on January 21, 1935 in Cherokee County, SC. He was the son of the late Charles Harrison Ligon and Lola Gordon Ligon. He was a member of Cornerstone Family Worship Center in York, SC and was a veteran in the US ARMY. Joe worked for 40+ years for Metal Masters; he was a gifted man of many talents. He was loved by his many, many friends who all called him “Papa Joe” for his caring and loving heart. Joe was known for his compassionate love for his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and “Papa Joe”.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Dover Ligon, sons, Jeff Ligon (Nancy), Tom Kevin Ligon (Lisa), daughter, Dorcas Ligon, grandchildren, Matt Ligon (Kristin), Hunter Ligon, Xandi Ligon, great grandson, Levi Jeffrey Ligon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Brady Ligon, Grady Ligon, Arthur Ligon and sister Dorothy Lanier.
