Home-Going services for Mr. Jimmie Lee Perry will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 A. M.
in the chapel of Wyche’s Funeral Home, 306 East Moore Street, Dublin, Ga. The Pastor Harold J. Banks will officiate and
burial will follow Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.
Mr. Perry of Dublin, GA, and a native of Americus, GA passed on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Serenity Hospice in Dublin, GA. Jim, as he was affectionately called, was born in Sumter County, Georgia, on September 20, 1943 to the parents of the late Valmore and Christine Perry. He was the third of six children. He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County, GA, and was a graduate in the class of 1961 from Sumter County High School. Immediately upon graduating from high school, Jim joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He previously was employed in Americus by the Americus Public School System as a Crossing Guard and by South GA Technical College as a Campus Safety Officer. Jim also served, while in Americus, as a Deacon at the Guildfield Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Perry Bivins Jones.
Jim leaves to cherish his memories his wife of twenty-eight years, Mrs. Naomi Smith Perry. He is also survived by his four stepsons: Gregory (Monique) Jones, Steven Jones, Frederick Jones, and Vincent Jones all of Dublin, GA, several step-grandchildren, one of whom he and his wife Naomi reared, LaAzia Jones of Albany, GA, and Ryan Jones, of Washington state, who spent lots of time with them growing up in Americus during his youth. Jim and Naomi also served as loving foster parents to several children.
In addition to his wife, stepsons and step-grandchildren, Jim leaves to cherish his memories one sister: Brenda (Calvin) Mansfield of Americus, GA, three brothers: Eddie Perry, Miami, FL, John (Yvonne) Perry of Jackson, NJ, and Rodney (Sandra) Perry of Americus, GA. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Betty (Rev. Robert) Hall, Dublin, GA, Dr. Robbie (Frank) Latimore, Americus, GA, Sarah (Jimmy) Edwards, Dublin, GA, four brothers-in-law: Havie (Emma) Smith, Sr., Toscanell Smith, Mark (Thelia) Smith, Jr., all of Dublin, GA, and James (Lorraine) Smith, of Macon, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends are being received at the family residence, 1188 Evergreen Road, from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. daily.
