James Kiser

James Kiser SMYRNA James Russell Kiser, Sr. of Smyrna died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at his home. A native of Cherokee Falls, James was the son of the late Russell J. and Nellie R. Kiser. Born on June 14, 1927, James graduated from Blacksburg High School in 1945. He served in both the U S Army and the Air Force as part of the U S Occupational Forces in Tokyo, Japan. After discharge, he entered Clemson University, graduating in 1953 with a degree in Textile Manufacturing. He was employed by Burlington Industries at the Cherokee Falls plant, T and S Mills in Blacksburg and Aliceville, Alabama, Springs Industries and Grover Industries. He also served as Cherokee County Tax Accessor. He was a Shriner, a member of Masonic Buffalo Lodge 202, and a member of Broad River Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Grace Bearden Kiser, two daughters, Donna Kiser Maness and her husband, Lanny of Anderson, and Robbin Ann Kiser of Smyrna two sons, James R. Kiser, Jr. and wife Tina of York and Timothy R. Kiser and wife Connie of Rock Hill five grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace and Deborah Ann Maness of Anderson, Jami Lynn Kiser of York, Anne Sanders and Emmie Kiser of Rock Hill brother, Jake M. Kiser of Bolivia, NC and four step-grandchildren, Mindy Madden Crawford and Mikayla Madden of York, Joseph and Max Bolin of York. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery in Smyrna, SC. Visitation will be held at Bratton Funeral Home from 5:30-6:30 PM on Friday, March 16, 2012. Memorials may be made to Broad River Baptist Church, 2315 Legion Road, Smyrna, SC 29743.
